The project is going along fine, adding some goodies like BrakeTech CMC Starblade rotors, STM slipper with slave, carbon fiber parts and a Nemesis ECU.
Our goal is to have at least 50-55bhp more over stock, perhaps more but not to the cost of a short lifespan. This "J-Kit" for the 1098 will be 100% complete, NO other parts is needed. You can run it with what ever exhaust you want but we recommend a slipon at least, the only thing needed is to get rid of the "EXUP" valve motor. The drive is using that space and the majority of the 1098 owners use a slipon or full exhaust so we think there should be no problem.
This kit will include the Nemesis ECU, if you already have it you just give us a notice and we will not include it and cut the price accordingly. Also included is the lambda self tuner parts for the Nemesis so you can tune/map it for yourself without having to take it to the dyno. Of course if you want to know the actual hp you have to use the dyno......
As we see it the main problem with the Ducati 1098 engine, as many other big stroke v-twins also, is the rpm. To get more hp out of a normal aspirated engine you almost always have to increase the roof of max rpm. This is one-way ticket to a big pile of expensive junk. Our research on the problems of the 1098's engine are that they are rpm related, almost every engine blown has been "over-revved" and kept on redline rpm's for some time. A big misunderstanding is that the engine can't handle the power created and blows up because of that. What makes the engine blow up is not the actual hp produced it's something else, like too much rpm that kills the oil film or an ignition problem due to high rpm and big bore cylinders.
